Albir
Albir is a modern seaside resort that belongs to the municipality of Alfas del Pi and is situated between Altea and Benidorm. The Moors gave this region the name "Alfas" (often spelled as Alfaz), which means "fertile land" and which refers to the growing and cultivation of fruit, olives, grapes and almonds by the Moors in the Sierra Helada area.
Albir is set up spaciously, is directly located on the coast and has hardly any high-rise buildings. The streets are beautifully planted with palm trees and the whole gives a neat impression. An attractive seaside resort with many shops, restaurants, hotels and (rental) villas. Albir is very suitable for people who are bad walkers or who sit in a wheelchair. Nearly half of the population is foreign and spread over more than 50 nationalities.
"Playa de Racó de l´Albir" is the main (pebble) beach of Albir. It is 600 m long, has crystal clear seawater and it received the famous blue flag.
The main promenade is the "Paseo de las Estrellas" (the Star promenade). On the stars in this marble pedestrian street, names are engraved of (national) actors who visited Albir during the annual film festival in July.
The walk to the lighthouse of Albir is popular. Not only because of the beautiful nature, but also because of the magnificent views over the bay.
Albir is a perfect place for young and old.
